The puppy buying process when buying from Gunfield
We are often asked the process of buying a puppy.
Buying a puppy is always a very personal experience so it will inevitably be different for everyone but we have aimed to outline the key stages below

Applying to join our waiting list
In order to have a puppy from Gunfield you must be on our waiting list in order to do this we ask people to initially complete an enquiry form
Once we receive your enquiry there are a few ways we can proceed.
1. Arrange a call or Arrange a visit in person these can be booked using the link on our website.
we will discuss the breeds suitability and your requirements.
2.. We will then send you an email reservation form.

Be accepted onto the list
Once we have had our call or visit we can look at getting you onto the waiting list.
You will have discussed with us an approximate time scale and your expectations for ownership and we will have mutually agreed a litter that is likely to suit.
If you are applying to have puppy you will then submit to us a completed reservation form alongside your joining fee of £100.00 which is to be deducted from the overall cost of your puppy.

Your reservation form is a comprehensive form which covers what you expect to receive and when and the terms of purchase this ensures we all know what is expected of us.
once you are on our waiting list you will be kept up to date by email.
Reservation forms are completed upon joining the list
occasionally with our westie litters we may not ask you for them until later on as our waiting lists are shorter.

Birth of a litter
Finally the day has come and the litter is born.
this is the time you have to be most patient we do not make formal offers of puppies until they are 10 days old and have received their first vet check.
Once the check is done and we are sure we have a healthy puppy to offer you we will make you a formal offer of a puppy, If you have not chosen a gender at this time we will be able to tell you what gender your puppy is.
A 10% deposit is payable at this time unless you are a retuning customer.
We will not be allocating the individual puppies till after temperament testing so at this stage you will know for example your pup is one of 4 boys.
You will be asked to update your contact details and family information and also to share with us any preference you may have such as larger or smaller / darker /lighter or really anything that you find important to you.
You will receive the minimum of weekly videos from now to keep you updated

Temperament tests, allocations and visits
When the puppies are six weeks of age it all becomes exciting, we will be preforming a temperament and conformation assessment of each puppy armed with the results of this plus the information you have given us about your life style and expectations we will pair you with your most suitable puppy from the litter.
You will receive a email from me with a temperament test result plus a picture of your puppy.
We will microchip the puppies to ensure we know who is going to who.
You will then be invited to come and meet the litter while this isn't mandatory it is nice to see the siblings together.
Mum will be viewable at this visit.
